Downtown Golden has come alive over the past decade. New hotels, restaurants and businesses; expanded parking, improved parks, and decorative touches from flower boxes to holiday lights are visible and welcome signs of the downtown transformation. What is not so visible is the central role the Golden Civic Foundation has played in the city's revitalization. What We Do Created in 1970 by local community leaders, the Golden Civic Foundation helps bridge the gap between public funds and public needs by raising money from private sources for making the community a better place to live. Funds are raised from an annual auction, investment earnings, and donations from local businesses and individuals. Almost Every Major Capital Project in Golden ...has benefited from the Golden Civic Foundation's efforts during the last three decades. From the Table Mountain Inn to the American Mountaineering Center,the Golden Visitors Center to the Golden Hotel, the Foundation has invested more than $850,000 to economic and community development since 1970. Another $1,000,000 has gone to enhance schools, charities and cultural organizations throughout the city. |
