Patrick
Madison, the President of
Golden Software, Inc., has been a
Golden resident for more than thirty
years. After growing up and going to
school in Montana, he came to Golden in
1979, working as a computer science
instructor at the Colorado School of
Mines.
Pat co-founded
Golden Software in 1983. Over the years,
the Golden Software product line has
grown to include some of the most
widely-used scientific graphing software
titles in the world, among them Surfer,
Grapher, MapViewer, and Didger. Golden
Software has sold over 100,000 software
licenses to date, and their products are
in use in over 177 countries and on all
seven continents.
Golden
Software is located at 809 14th Street
in downtown Golden.
Pat has been
actively involved in the Golden
community for many years. His
contributions include:
- Served on the Golden Volunteer
Fire Department for 8-1/2 years,
four of them as an officer.
- Attended
Leadership Golden in the class
of 1993/1994.
- Served on the Leadership Golden
Steering Committee in 1994/1995.
- Active in the
Rotary Club since 1990,
including terms as President, Vice
President, Treasurer, and Editor of
their newsletter.
- Tutored students in computer use
in the Golden public schools.
- Elected to the Golden Gate Fire
Protection District Board of
Directors

Pat is also the sculptor
responsible for some of our
most popular local artwork:
the two schools of trout
(one behind the Golden
Hotel, and the other on
Clear Creek, below Parfet
Park) and the butterflies,
located at the Rotary
Amphitheater, behind the
police station.
Pat is the father of two
grown daughters, one a
public school teacher and
the other a newspaper
reporter. Both daughters
went through the Golden
school system. He has
climbed all 54 of Colorado’s
mountains over 14,000 feet
and has backpacked over
1,000 miles in the
backcountry of Yellowstone
