Grants

If your organization would like to apply for a grant from the Golden Civic Foundation, please follow the guidelines set forth on this page.

Generally, only one request is considered from an organization during any twelve month period.  The Foundation does not consider grants to organizations which discriminate on the basis of race, creed or sex.  Additionally, no grants will be made to an organization whose primary purpose is to influence legislation or to participate in any political campaign.

Charitable Purposes:  The Foundation is generally supportive of community and human service agencies which assist the disadvantaged in their efforts to be self-sufficient and productive.

Civic Purposes:  Programs supported by the Foundation are typically those which enhance Golden's culture and heritage and are likely to be of economic benefit to and broadly used by the Golden Community.

What We Do Not Fund

The Foundation will not consider grants for:

  • Direct support of individuals

  • Endowments

  • Research projects

  • Churches, church projects, or religious organizations

  • Conferences, symposium, or workshops

  • Debt retirement or operational deficits

  • General operating expenses

  • Production of films or other media-related projects

  • Preschools, day care centers, nursing homes, etc.

  • Programs designed to influence legislation or elect candidates to public office

  • Tickets, raffles, golf outings or sponsorships

Grant Application Guidelines

A letter requesting a grant should include a general description of the program or project and the pertinent information as indicated below.

  • Legal name and address of applicant organization

  • Contact person and telephone number

  • Information about the mission and purpose of the organization

  • Most recent copy of IRS letter of tax-exemption status

  • Organization's financial statement for most recent year, and preferably a copy of your audit

  • Purpose and amount of grant requested including problems and issues the proposed project will address
       Project budget
       Resume for project staff
       Future funding plans
Substantiation of funding need and anticipated results
Other funding sources and the amounts

Only one copy of the request needs to be submitted, and it should be noted if any parts of the proposal are to be returned.  If some of the above information is not available, please indicate that in your request.

The Golden Civic Foundation's Board will consider requests for funds from auction proceeds in the fall.  Proposals should be submitted to the Executive Director.  Grants will be disbursed when the funds are needed by the requesting organization.

Special grant requests (typically for special needs and larger dollar amounts) are considered as needed throughout the year.

Organizations receiving grants are encouraged to recognize the Civic Foundation in printed material regarding the specific project and allow the Foundation to use the name of the recipient organization in Foundation publicity.

Please submit grant requests by October 15th.

Thanks for your interest

The Golden Civic Foundation is eager to support those organizations which benefit the Golden community.  Applying for a grant isn't difficult.  Just follow the guidelines given above.  If you have any questions, please contact the Executive Director for more information.
