Now Accepting Applications for New Executive Director

GOLDEN, CO – The Golden Civic Foundation (Foundation) has launched its search for a new executive director as the current director, Heather Schneider (Schneider), will be winding down her service through the end of 2023 with the intention of having a smooth transition to new leadership. The Golden Civic Foundation Board has established a selection committee of board members who will interview and choose the organization’s next executive director. A link to the job description can be found below and applications are due by 5pm on Friday, August 18, 2023.

In 2016, Schneider was hired to lead the Foundation as its Executive Director. Under Schneider’s leadership, the non-profit has diversified and increased their revenue by over 170% which has allowed the Foundation to grow and increase its impact to the Golden community via their Community Grant Programs and Small Business Loan Program. The Foundation also served in a key leadership role with Golden’s community leaders to identify and implement ways to respond to the economic uncertainty during the pandemic. This resulted in the Foundation providing $130,000 low interest loans to Golden’s small businesses and over $105,000 in grants to support the Golden community during this time. Lastly, together with a team of community stakeholders, the Foundation played a key role in helping Miners Alley Playhouse acquire the Meyer Hardware building for their future Performing Arts Center.

“I am incredibly grateful for my time and the relationships that I’ve built in working with our high caliber board, staff and the Golden community. I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish together and hope that I’ve left a positive legacy for the Foundation to continue to thrive into the future,” Schneider said. “I remain passionate about the mission and work of the Foundation and look forward to seeing it take on its next leadership chapter.”

Foundation Board President, Patrick Madison expressed sadness and gratitude for Schneider’s service to the organization.

“The impact Heather has made on the community is both immense and cherished,” Madison said. “She has worked with our community to build an organization that has had a tremendous impact on Golden that will help to protect our community’s unique character for future generations.”

Madison is confident that the committee will find a new leader who can sustain the Foundation’s momentum to continue its mission invest in the economic and cultural vitality of the Golden community.
