Tell us a little about yourself and your connection to Golden.

Bob and I have lived in Golden for over 25 years. Bb bought our house in October of 2001. During the 25 years we have seen Golden grow from a small Cowtown to a booming tourist spot. Bob grew up outside Milwaukee WI and loved all the small burger shops. He dreamed of owning a burger restaurant one day. Shortly after moving to Golden in the late 90s and the one burger dinner closed. The idea of opening a restaurant back then seemed unimaginable. Bob has a builder and I was serving tables at Boulder Beer. The next 10 years of working construction for Bob was taking its toll on his back. Plus life was expensive with two young daughters. We had to think of career change to afford life in Golden. Both of us still were dreaming of the burger shop, and I knew our dads could help with financing. Bob did the entire build out of the restaurant, and we open Bob’s Atomic Burgers in July 2012.

What makes Golden feel like Golden to you?

The community.

How would you like Golden to look in 10-20 years? What do you hope grows, changes, or stays the same?

I really hope it stays the same with no more growth. Summertime downtown is extremely busy and very difficult to get around.

What first drew you to GCF, or what keeps you connected to this work?

The Golden Back packs was my connection to the GCF. I learned about GCF when we were holding a fundraiser for Golden Back Packs back in May 2013. We went to our first Gala in 2013. Then in 2015, we had the opportunity to buy our building. We needed help with the funding. Several members of GCF approached me about applying for a loan. We received a loan for $75K. I really do not know what we would of done without that loan.
