Golden Civic Foundation Annual Events

For nearly 50 years, the Golden Civic Foundation has helped to build a lively downtown, thriving economy and strong connection with our community. In addition to this community support, the Golden Civic Foundation hosts two primary fundraising/friend-raising events per year that include:

The 44th Annual Gala and Auction… for more than 43 years, the Golden Civic Foundation’s Annual Gala & Auction has been the event of the year for active members of the Golden community who love our town. This event is the primary fundraiser for the Golden Civic Foundation’s Grant Program and more than $6.1 million that has been raised over the past 49 years has been reinvested back into the Golden community to support charitable organizations, public schools, museums and cultural centers in the greater Golden area.

In 2018, the Golden Civic Foundation surpassed our fundraising goal and raised nearly $200,000 to support our Community Grant Program and the Golden High School’s Community Track Renovation projects… A BIG THANKS to our sponsors, donors and 530 attendees that made this possible!

This year’s annual Gala & Auction will take place on Saturday, October 12th, 2019 at the Colorado School of Mines’ Lockridge Arena and will have a “vintage Western” theme. Shine those boots and mosey on back here in early September (or follow us on Facebook or Instagram) to stay up to date on all the details!

The Golden Summer Jam… this summertime event is designed to connect with Golden families and residents, promote community involvement and celebrate Golden’s small town friendly atmosphere. This “friendraiser/fundraiser” is held annually at the Colorado Railroad Museum and features live music by local Golden bands, food and fun for all ages!

In 2019, the 3rd Annual Golden Summer Jam took place on Thursday, June 27th and highlighted Dorado, Bowregard and The Great Salmon Famine, three talented bands with Golden connections, as well as youth musicians from the Colorado School of Rock’s Golden/Lakewood studio. Guests also had the chance to explore and experience the Museum’s scenic, 15-acre railyard that is home to more than 100 locomotives, ride on the Galloping Goose Railway, view the unique, fully operational miniature garden railway, and, kids were able to climb the walls of the Colorado Mountain Club’s Bouldering Bus, and jump and slide in a super-size “bouncy house” provided through the partnership of the Golden Backpack Program and The Drake Durkee Foundation! Food and beverage were provided by New Terrain Brewing Co. (beer), Ace Liquor (wine), Maui Shave Ice, Bob’s Atomic Burgers, the Crock Spot and Moontime Crepes food trucks.

Please check back here, or on our social media pages, in Spring 2020 for information regarding the 4th annual Golden Summer Jam. If you are an interested food vendor or band, please feel free to contact julie@goldencivicfoundation.org.

“The Golden Civic Foundation was instrumental in the purchase and renovation of our beautiful building, and has given each of our organizations a home we can be proud of.  But more than that, over the years, the Foundation has supported all of us with grants that have enabled us to grow our membership, enhance our library, expand our museum, and purchase tools to maintain the trails we love so much.  Supporting the Golden Civic Foundation supports all of us.” Shelby Arnold
