2023 Grant Recipients

A Little Help-To replace trailer supplies and purchase welcome bags for Golden’s seniors.

Colorado Railroad Museum-Help install paved walkways on the Colorado Railroad Museum campus for increased accessibility for all.

Continental Divide Trail Coalition-Support the Continental Divide Trail Coalition’s strategic visioning process in 2023 to develop long-term planning for the organization’s next five years.

Foothills Animal Shelter-Organizational grant to train the Foothills Animal Shelter’s managerial and supervisory staff to operate at the highest possible level in order to retain staff, provide professional growth, and ultimately better serve the Golden Community.

Foothills Art Center-Purchase one kiln for the Foothills Art Center’s new kiln room, located in their new Creative Campus.

Friends of Dinosaur Ridge-Support the painting of railings and various metal structures as well as to replace a track covering on the Triceratops Trail.

GoFarm-Support maintenance, fuel and other expenses related to the GoFarm’s Mobile Food Market.

Golden Bicycle eXperience (GBX)-Provide scholarships to 10 deserving children in the next year of the GBX program cycle.

Colorado Railroad Museum– Renovate the Museum’s outdoor pavilion that was severely damaged by a wind storm early in 2022.

Colorado Cowboy Gathering – Support their School Outreach Program by producing a video of the artists that can be used in local schools.

Colorado 14ers Initiative – Purchase 13 Garmin InReach Mini devices to help with volunteer & staff communications while they continue improve the access to trails in Colorado.

Colorado Mountain Club – Support hiring up to five Golden high school “alumni” for their Youth Education Program.

Continental Divide Trail Coalition – Support their strategic planning efforts in Golden.

Foothills Art Center – Fund campaign to rebrand and re-connect FAC to the community of Golden.

Friends of Dinosaur Ridge – Fund painting of a mural on the shelter that is at the trailhead for Triceratops Trail.

GoFarm – Supports a series of educational programs to connect Golden residents with resources, support and value for our local food system.

Golden Bicycle eXperience (GBX) – Partnering with Bell Middle School and Golden High School, provide 10 needs-based scholarships for kids to cover the cost of their tuition.

Golden Community Center – Support community health and wellness by funding a day of free admissions to the Golden Community Center in the Fall.

Golden Concert Choir – Enable the choir to enhance its amateur musical performances with professional soloists and instrumentalists.

Golden History Museum – Purchase a new scanner for the Museum’s photo digitization program.

Golden Landmarks Association – Add 40 photographic images to historic online photo collection and funding support to produce a Territorial Guide.

Golden Police Department – Support for the Golden Police Department’s annual National Night Out event in August.

Golden View Classical Academy – Support an infrastructure project that will provide a landscaping solution to increase safety and minimize the impact of noise and odor from the school’s close proximity to I-70.

Hands of the Carpenter – Provide affordable automotive services for working single mothers so they can thrive and participate in the Golden community.

Jefferson County Library Foundation – Support costs associated with the Golden Library’s Summer Reading Program for kids.

Kyffin Elementary School – Funding support to build an outdoor classroom/amphitheater and garden for students.

Mitchell Elementary School – Fund the purchase and installation of two Mimeo boards for the 4th grade classrooms.

Neighborhood Rehab Project – Create an educational guide for Golden’s homeowners to learn how to maintain their homes in an effort to preserve affordable housing in Golden.

Outdoor Lab Foundation – Build a community outreach strategy .so teachers feel more supported, parents are better informed, and students feel welcomed and prepared for their week at camp.

Red Rocks Community College Foundation – Fund two scholarships for Golden residents to pursue their higher education goals at RRCC.

Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum – Fund the servicing/repair of sewing machines used in the RMQM Youth Education and Summer Camp programming as well as to purchase supplies needed for the Golden History Camp educational projects for youth.

Welchester Elementary School – Purchase texts for Kinder Discovery time, replace toys and items and technology.

2021 Grant Recipients
American Alpine Club Library – Fund a RAID (external hard drives) backup system for the American Alpine Club Library’s digital collections.

American Mountaineering Museum – Purchase a stand-alone exhibit case that can be used for changing exhibits.

Bell Middle School – Support the purchase of “Read Alive” licenses to support all Bell students who need reading support.

CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties – Support expenses related to the Youth Alliance Initiative (YAI) that supports Golden’s youth that age out of foster care.

City of Golden Public Art Commission – Help with one-time maintenance and treatment for Golden’s public art collection.

Colorado Fourteeners Initiative – Acquire a new canvas wall tent to serve as the base of operations for one of the four backcountry basecamps. The basecamps provide shelter for volunteer crew members working on their multi-year trail reconstruction project.

Colorado Railroad Museum – Support the next phase of their accessibility improvement projects including a paved pathway needed to the Roundhouse and providing wheelchair access to their Upper Gallery/Orientation Center area in their main Depot building.

Christian Action Guild – Annual financial support for ongoing operations to their volunteer-run food bank as well as a special grant to help fund the construction of a new awning attached to the front of their building.

Executive Director/Nonprofit Roundtable – Fund professional development speakers for the Golden Executive Director Roundtable (EDRT). The EDRT is a networking group of Golden’s nonprofits that share learning on best practices including fundraising, board development, volunteer recruitment and more.

Family Tree – Assist Golden residents utilizing the Family Tree’s Homelessness Program.

GoFarm – Fund research, purchase and recommendations to incorporate more sustainable/eco-friendly supplies and materials into their operations and assist nearby farmers and community members in doing the same in their work and personal lives.

Hands of the Carpenter – Help single low-income women who live in Golden to have their cars repaired and, if needed, get them into a “new” safe and reliable vehicle.

Foothills Animal Shelter – Matching grant to build their first-ever barnyard for homeless livestock that come through their shelter.

Foothills Art Center – Matching grant to support their Young Curators Program and to support Jefferson County educators and students with established Social Emotional Learning through the Arts (SELA) programming.

Free Horizon Montessori School – Provide smaller lunch room tables needed for students returning to in-person learning.

Golden Concert Choir – Funds to purchase a camera and to provide scholarships for their members.

Golden Elks Lodge 2740 – Provide an opportunity for Golden area youth to participate in the Golden Elks Hoop and Soccer Shoot.

Golden Fire Department – To purchase, ship and install a 40-foot used container to use for storage.

Golden History Museums – Fund improvements to their chicken coop site for the safety and comfort of both the chickens and their devotees.

Golden High School After Prom – Although Prom was cancelled in 2021 due to the pandemic, this funding provided two scholarships that were given out as a prize to Seniors at their year-end gala.

Golden Landmarks Association – Fund a History Coloring Book aimed at younger audiences and distributed to Golden schools.

Golden Police Department – Help fund expenses related to their annual National Night Out. National Night Out is a nationally recognized law enforcement community engagement event that is focused on building partnerships and offering education in public safety to those they serve.

Golden Senior Santa – Funding to support the purchase and distribution of food and gift items that were given to low-income senior citizens living in the City of Golden.

Golden Schools Foundation – Matching grant with the City of Golden to fund a Trauma Informed Instruction Program that addresses the adverse effects COVID-19 has had on Golden students’ Social/Emotional wellbeing.

Golden Visitors & Information Center – Funding for the purchase of client relationship management software to manage expanded GVIC activities.

Habitat for Humanity – Funds to help Golden residents with mortgage assistance due to the economic impacts of the pandemic.

Jefferson County Library Foundation – Funds to help them provide books (as prizes and program incentives) for babies, toddlers and children who participate (and reach their reading goals) in the Jefferson County Public Library’s (JCPL) Golden Library branch as part of the 2021 Summer of Learning program.

Kyffin Elementary School – Help fund updated computers, interactive document cameras, and student technology devices in the hands of their teachers and students.

Miners Alley Playhouse – Purchase additional equipment to help them livestream their performances including computer, LED lighting, microphones and livestream cameras.

Mitchell Elementary School – Funding to help support their technology budget, specifically for replacing outdated Chromebooks used for academics.

Neighborhood Rehab Project – Funding to enable emergency home construction projects that require immediate response in order to keep Golden homeowners warm, dry and safe.

Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum – Support funding of new computers and I-70 tourism signage.

Outdoor Lab Foundation – Provide tuition assistance to Golden’s sixth grade students that participate in the Jefferson County Outdoor Lab program.

Red Rocks Community College Foundation – Provided three scholarships for Golden residents to pursue their higher education goals at Red Rocks Community College.

Salvation Army Golden Service Extension Unit – Help provide immediate assistance with rent or mortgage payments for Golden residents who are experiencing housing instability resulting from the impacts of COVID-19.

Shelton Elementary School – Fund the work of the Family Engagement Liaison (FEL) at Shelton Elementary School (PreK-5th grade) in Golden for the 21-22 school year.

Welchester Elementary School – Provide devices (Chromebooks) for students in preschool and Kindergarten.

Victims Outreach, Inc. – Help fund the replacement of the Courage Garden Gazebo that was destroyed by arson in October 2020.

2020 Grant Recipients

Bell Middle School – Grant to replace the computer monitors in Bell’s STEM Engineering lab.

CASA of Jefferson and Gilpin Counties – To fund their Fostering Futures Program. Funding will specifically support modest apartment furnishings, costs associated with youth transportation, and costs associated with pro-social activities.

Colorado Cowboy Gathering – Fund performances for their school outreach program.

Colorado Fourteeners Initiative – Pay for the design services and installation cost to wrap the newly acquired, used Toyota Tundra added to their fleet in 2019.

Colorado Mountain Club – Support its Youth Education Program (YEP) at Connections Learning Center and other Golden area schools in 2020.

Colorado Railroad Museum – Help fund infrastructure improvements including upgraded restrooms and paves walkways.

CSM Alpha Phi Omega – Mu Pi Chapter – Help purchase additional supplies needed for their STEM-based local Jamboree for Outstanding Youngsters (JOY) event in March 2021.

Family Tree – Funds will help assist Golden residents utilizing the Family Tree Homelessness Program.

Foothills Art Center – Establish a new “Artist in Studio” program to provide a working space for a Jeffco art teacher or local artist for two weeks during the summer.

GoFarm – Implement a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to allow GoFarm to deepen our impact in Golden by fostering stronger relationships with our partners, customers, and donors.

Golden Backpack Program – Help fund their strategic planning initiative.

Golden Chamber of Commerce – Funds to support and grow the Golden Farmers Market amidst current challenges as well as purchase new office furniture.

Golden Concert Choir – Help the choir purchase its own keyboard for use at their choir retreat and community performances, award five scholarships to choir members who are unable to afford dues as well as cover the cost of some of their music.

Golden Elks Lodge 2740 – To provide winter coats, gloves and school supplies to children in need attending Golden elementary schools and to provide activities for the children and their families while learning about the Golden library and obtaining a library card.

Golden Fire Department – Replace outdated and inefficient firefighting helmets for their firefighters.

Golden Giddyup – Funding will help make physical and capital improvements to the Golden Bike Park including the cost of equipment, building materials, benches and shade structures.

Golden History Museums – Build new, rustic-style cabinetry to hold and hide class materials in the Reynolds Cabin located in the History Park.

Golden Landmarks Association – Funds will help GLA continue restoration, colorization, and printing of the Ronzio and Morrison collections.

Golden Police Department – Help purchase informational material, brochures, and giveaways for the youth at the Golden Police Department’s National Night Out event in August 2020.

Golden Visitors Center – Funding to upgrade their computers.

Jefferson County Library Foundation – Supplies for special events at the Golden Library serving children and teens as well as supplies and equipment for the Discover Together Early Literacy Learning Environment.

Jefferson Symphony Orchestra – Funds to cover some direct expenses for the Pops in the Park concert on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

Kyffin Elementary School – Help fund expansion of Kyffin’s MakerSpace to include more opportunities for all of our students, Pre K-5th grade.

Miners Alley Playhouse – Funding to purchase new LED lighting instruments.

Mitchell Elementary School – Partnership grant with the Drake Durkee Foundation that will helped fund a community art project “Leaf” a Legacy of Kindness that was spearheaded by Mitchell’s third graders.

Outdoor Lab Foundation – Funds will help offset costs for Golden students to attend the program.

Red Rocks Community College Foundation – Fund one full-tuition scholarship for a student to earn a nonprofit management certificate through RRCC’s Nonprofit Pathway program.

Rotary Club of Golden – Support their mental health initiative in the Golden community.

Shelton Elementary School – Help build their classroom libraries. Their goal is to give each classroom more leveled, high-interest, non-fiction books.

2019 Grant Recipients

American Alpine Club Library – Update the Club’s children’s book section and create a space for kids in the Library.

American Mountaineering Museum – Create a kid-friendly space in the American Mountaineering Museum.

AU Wireless – Purchase equipment that will allow AU Wireless to provide wireless services to additional members in Golden.

Bell Middle School – Purchase reading and math intervention support resources for students with academic gaps or learning difficulties.

Buffalo Bill Days – Help underwrite the Buffalo Bill Days musical entertainment.

CASA of Jefferson & Gilpin Counties – Support the Fostering Futures Program that empowers and prepares Golden youth who will age out of foster care.

Colorado 14ers Initiative – Help purchase necessary tools to operate the equipment for Mt. Columbia located near Buena Vista.

Colorado Cowboy Gathering – Supports for the Colorado Cowboy Gathering’s School Outreach Program that performs at Golden area schools.

Colorado Mountain Club – Engage Golden students in the Youth Education Program through providing tuition assistance to Connections Learning Center, and outreach and programming to Mitchell Elementary and other Golden schools.

Colorado Railroad Museum – Purchase quality dehumidifiers to care for and preserve the priceless records and artifacts in their collections.

Colorado Trail Foundation – Purchase a new business laptop for the Office Manager.

Continental Divide Trail Coalition – Supports the Continental Divide Trail’s Adopter Program and its growth in 2019.

Family Tree – Assist Golden residents utilizing the Family Tree Homelessness Program.

Foothills Art Center – Purchase equipment, supplies and materials to support their growing education programs and 2019 outreach to local schools.

Friends of Dinosaur Ridge – Replace two interpretive signs and install a donations box at the Triceratops Trail in Golden.

Go Farm – Purchase compost bins and conduct community workshops to increase awareness of food waste reduction efforts.

Golden Backpack Program – Funds 7,437 meals for the Weekend Sack Program or 23,684 meals for the Fresh Food Co-op.

Golden Concert Choir – Provide scholarships to community members who would otherwise not be able to join the choir.

Golden Fire Department – Purchase two AED units that will be carried on their command vehicles.

Golden Giddyup – Purchase tools to help support efforts in repairing, maintaining and building trails in the local community.

Golden High After Prom – Provide two scholarships of $500 each to be given out as a prize to Seniors at the end of After Prom 2019.

Golden History Museums – Make several site improvements to the Golden History Park for the Hands-On History Summer Camp for kids.

Golden Landmarks – Preserve, correct and digitize their Ronzio and Pete Morrison Collections.

Golden Police Department – Supports the Golden Police Department’s annual National Night Out event in August.

Golden Landmarks – Purchase a sturdy tent, Flex-it presentation panels, photo storage bins, a depth of framed photography and a ground mat to exhibit Golden’s history.

Golden Optimist Club – Purchase a commercial grade logo tent-top that would provide shelter for volunteers when at events and while fixing bikes.

Golden Police Department – Help fund their Annual National Night Out “A Golden Night in the Park” event.

Jefferson County Library Foundation – Help purchase materials and equipment for the DIYLab at the Golden library along with supplies for the Library’s Discover Together Early Literacy Space for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

Jefferson Symphony Orchestra – Acquire music scores for joint performances with student bands and orchestras and to help maintain their 50-year-old music library.

Kids Music Project by Coral Creek – Create music kits for Kindergarten teachers to use in classrooms in our local elementary schools.

Kyffin Elementary – Purchase littleBits engineering kits to their MakersSpace so that students can complete tech-based activities, like coding, robotics, circuitry and other hands-on activities.

Miners Alley Playhouse – Purchase a new sound board.

Mitchell Elementary – Purchase chromebooks and cart to loan to students that are enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program at school.

Neighborhood Rehab Project – Support their annual “Be a Tool” Community Day and also provide materials for volunteers to repair and replace roofing to selected Golden residents, insuring they have a warm, safe and dry home.

Outdoor Lab Foundation – Program support for Golden public and charter school students for the weeks they attend Outdoor Lab during the 2017-18 school year.

Red Rocks Community College – Scholarships to cover the cost of tuition for two students to earn a nonprofit management certificate through the newly launched Nonprofit Pathway program at Red Rocks Community College.

Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum – Purchase a Portable Projection Screen and PA System to enhance their Educational Outreach Program.

Shelton Elementary – Help fund enrichment opportunities such as foreign language, chess, coding, robotics, etc. to all students during the school day.

Welchester Elementary – Purchase a television to install within the building to communicate important school announcements, purchase materials to assemble a 5 gallon lock down kit for each room in the school, and for teacher recognition.
